Student eLeaders

Following the introduction of a laptop program for years 7, 9 and 10 at the start of this year and class sets of ipads at the beginning of this term, a decision was made to have student eLeaders to assist with initial trouble shooting and support of ICT technologies ion the classroom.  This term 60 students have been appointed as Student eLeaders  from Years 7 through to 12.  The idea was to have 2 from each homeroom but this isn’t necessarily the case.  Students had to complete an application form and go through a group interview process to be selected.  To get them started a full day training session was held.  The day started with get to know you activities and sharing  about themselves.  then it swung into how they can assist with trouble shooting basic problems with IWBs and student laptop connections. Later in the day they were given a hands on with the new class set of ipads and how to connect to the network and the internet and then how to delete information at the end of the session ready for the next student who may use the ipad.   The students are quite excited about this new leadership role in the classroom.

Already we can see the benefits after a few days as the eLeaders willingly help others problem solve issues with laptops, and help teachers with IWB issues.
